What happened
Anaheim was the biggest and the last of the in-person MINECONs, with 12,000 passes released in two batches on 7 May 2016.
The Exploration Update, version 1.11, was revealed on stage along with woodland mansions and shulkers.
From 2017 the event moved to a livestreamed format, so the enderman cape closed the run of capes you could only get by walking through a door.
Why collectors care
The final in-person MINECON cape. Nothing after 2016 was awarded for physically attending a MINECON, which makes this the end of the series.
A cape cannot be detached from the account that earned it. There is no trade, no gift, no transfer. The only way the 2016 cape moves is if the whole account moves with it, which is the market CNKT works in.
